Waymo, Alphabet Inc.’s autonomous driving unit, is aiming to raise about $16 billion in a financing round that would value the unit at nearly $110 billion, according to people familiar with the matter.

The prior investment round, in October 2024, valued the company above US$45 billion and was led by Alphabet, which also owns Google.

The robotaxi company Waymo is eyeing Portland. That’s according to Portland Bureau of Transportation director Millicent Williams, who briefed city officials in a Jan. 20 email to Mayor Keith Wilson, City Administrator Raymond Lee and the Portland City Council.
